My mom shouted,
“Let’s all have
black button eyes!
Become creatures
of imagination
And live in an animated
utopia.
Show no emotions
Except for a
smile.”
Horrified, I
refused
to replace my
ember eyes
for some plastic
coins.
As I walked out the door,
The people of
earth,
Had quickly
changed
With arms and
legs
as loose as
inflatable car
ad balloons
swaying in the
wind,
creepy smiles
like L’s,
and the black
button eyes,
Everyone is now
made of moist
and smooth
materials
like the
citizens of the Other World.
They,
Including
my own mother,
all worship
the
orange-yellow polka dotted elephant,
And banned the
Nobodys like me,
and Hogwart’s own
Hagrid,
From their sanctuary
All because we
refuse to have one thing:
Black button
eyes.
